Samtredia Municipality, Georgia: The United Water Supply Company of Georgia started the construction works of water supply infrastructure in Samtredia Municipality on February 6, 2025. The relevant contract has already been signed.
The government of the municipality wishes to upgrade the water networks of its region so for this purpose they launched this project. The mayor of the Samtredua Municipality, David Bakhtadze along with other government official visted the municipality and talked with locals about this water project.
It was noted that, in the framework of this project, various water infrastructure works will be completed. It should be noted that the following works will be completed:
- Rehabilitation of main waste,
- Construction of 15 km of water supply highway network,
- Rehabilitation/construction of approximately 200 km of water supply network,
- Setting up SCADA system ( Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system),
- Filter galleries and the moratorium will be fully renewed.
The financial budget of the project was also discussed. It is noteworthy that 130 million Gel will be used for the project and with the completion of this project, the local population will benefit from 24-hour modern standards water supply.
Apart from this, the United Water Supply Company of Georgia plans construction works of water infrastructure in Samtredia. At this stage, the process of selection-evaluation of tender procedures is underway.
It is planned to renew the infrastructure of the water pipeline within the project:
- A 5 km long main collector and 16 pumping stations will be constructed,
- A 145 km long network of water pipelines and sewerage wells will also be created,
- A sewage treatment plant will be built,
- A 30 km long drainage system will be installed.
In total, more than 300 million GEL will be used for the construction of water and sewer infrastructure in Samtredia city with the financial support of the state budget and the German Reconstruction Credit Bank (KFW).
It should be noted that Under these types of water projects, the region’s water flow will be significantly increased, which will further help in the overall development of the region.
The mayor also noted that the implementation of the project will improve the conditions of the people living in those regions. With the support of the Georgian government, similar works will be carried out throughout the whole year throughout the Samtredia municipality.
