Tbilisi: One of the unique projects of Georgia is the Kvesheti-Kobi, a 9 km long and 15 m diameter tunnel. It is being drilled in the rocky rocks of the Region. This tunnel project will be the largest in Georgia and Exceptional in the world. The work is in full progress as per construction company.
The main tunnel drainage project was carried out with tunnel drainage equipment specially made for the sub-Kobi project – TBM. This reduces the Impact on the environment.
This new 23 km road will reduce the distance by 11 km, and the road will take 15 minutes instead of 1 hour to reach the destination.
The project company, a few days ago, stated that “out of nine almost eight-kilometre tunnels already been drilled, at the same evacuation tunnel is being constructed and 6170 meters of this evacuation tunnel has also been constructed.”
As per the information, this project is scheduled to be completed by the year 2024.
It is worth mentioning that goal of the Kvesheti-Kobi road project is to make the situation improved in the Region and make it possible to move smoothly and safely at any time of the year. The new way will reduce travel time and costs significantly, as well as improve traffic safety, increase Georgia’s transit potential and develop tourism in various directions in the coming years.
Under the framework of the project, it’s planned to Build a 23 km long, 2-lane asphalt-concrete road, five bridges and five tunnels. Moreover, it will also include the repair and rehabilitation of 1 bridge. Pedestrian crossings, pedestrian paths and pedestrian/cattle crossings will also be arranged as well according to requirements.
This one of the unique projects is commissioned by the Roads Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure. The total cost of the project will be 1.240 billion Lari. The construction of the project is being funded by the Asian Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.The ubm international united consultants inc.
