Russia-Ukraine War: 242 children have been killed in Ukraine since invasion

“More than 682 children have been affected in Ukraine as a result of the Russian Federation’s full-scale armed aggression as of the morning of May 28. Official numbers from juvenile prosecutors show that 242 minors were killed and over 440 others were injured, “according to the statement.

The figures are not final because the Prosecutor General’s Office is working to determine casualties in regions of active conflicts, as well as in temporarily occupied and freed territories.

Many of the children were affected in the Donetsk region – 153, Kyiv region – 116, Kharkiv region – 108, Chernihiv region – 68, Luhansk region – 51, Kherson region – 49, Mykolaiv region – 45, Zaporizhzhia region – 28, Sumy region – 17, Kyiv city – 16, Zhytomyr region – 15.

A 12-year-old child was killed on the territory of a school in Mariupol, Donetsk area, on May 26 when an enemy shell burst.

Prosecutors confirmed that a 15-year-old boy was injured during Russia’s shelling of Mariupol, Donetsk region, on March 15 while recording criminal offences. A medical facility forcibly sent the youngster to the so-called “DPR” territory. His 2-year-old brother and 14-year-old sister were taken away with him.

It was also revealed that on February 28, a 17-year-old teenager was hurt in Kharkiv when the Russian military shelled a car.

In the bombing and shelling of Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages by Russian forces, 1,888 educational facilities were vandalised. 180 of them have been entirely destroyed.
