A city court in Zugdidi has sentenced one person for murder. The person has been sent to undergo a jail term of 19 years for heinous nature of crime.
The evidence against the culprits were collected and presented in court by the office of Prosecutor. The court accepted all the evidence produced during trial against the accused by prosecutors as well.
Meanwhile the Zugdidi District Court judge termed the incident a heinous crime and justify his decision to send accused to jail term of 19 years. As per the order of judge the court made clearly defendant guilty of aggravated murder and participation in group violence.
It is also worth to note that after the completion of investigation the evidence presented at the trial confirmed that on May 19, 2024, in a residential building in Senaki, due to a previous confrontation, the defendant, armed with a knife, inflicted wounds on the victim. The victim was critically injured in this attack and died as a result of the injuries received.
On the other hand, the collected evidence examined in court also established that the defendant attempted to kill other persons present at the scene. So, judge consider the punishment of 19 jail just and fair.
Notably after receiving the information of alleged occurrence investigation agencies have started investigation. Moreover, law enforcement officers arrested the accused on the same day. He was charged with Articles 19, 109 “l” (attempted murder of two or more persons), Part 2 of Article 225 (participation in group violence) and Part 2 of Article 238 Prima (carrying a cold weapon by a person convicted of a serious crime) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
All the other criminal provision are considered as very strict provisions of law. The accused was also found to guilty of all the mentioned crime was sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
The Zugdidi District Court found the accused fully guilty of the charges and determined the form and length of the sentence as 19 years of imprisonment. The complainant and other person associated with case welcomed the decision of case.
