Tbilisi: The head of the headquarters of the Romanian Defense Forces, General Daniel Petrescu in Georgia on an official visit. The Romanian General was hosted by Georgian Defense Minister, Juansher Burchuladze.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the security environment and challenges in the region. During the talk, special attention was paid to the importance of stability and development of the Black Sea region, to the growing dynamics and future prospects of bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Romania in the region.
The important role of the NATO-Georgian Essential Package (SNGP) and Romania’s contribution in the successful implementation of the package initiatives were highlighted.
After the official welcoming ceremony, the head of the Georgian Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili met his Romanian colleague. During the bilateral meeting, the generals discussed current issues and future plans of military cooperation between the two countries.
The discussion also touched on issues of cooperation in military education and military training.
The Georgian side thanked General Daniel Petrescu from Romania for his support of Georgian sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
During his visit, the senior general of the Romanian Defense Forces headquarters also met with representatives of the NATO Core Group and the Joint NATO-Georgian Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC), where the NATO-Georgia Essential Package (SNGP) was discussed and also talked about the implementation of the yatives.
The Romanian general visited the special operations forces base in Vashlijvari. Head of the General Staff of Romania, General Daniel Petrescu honored the memory of Georgian heroes who died for the territorial integrity of Georgia on the Heroes Square and decorated the memorial with a wreath.
