Georgia: Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze meets French Ambassador Sheraz Gasri

Tbilisi: The Defence Minister of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze, hosted the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France in Georgia. At the introductory meeting, Defence Minister felicitated Sheraz Gasri on her appointment as Ambassador and wished her success in her career.

Tbilisi: The Defence Minister of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze, hosted the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France in Georgia. At the introductory meeting, Defence Minister felicitated Sheraz Gasri on her appointment as Ambassador and wished her success in her career. 

 The Georgian Defence Minister thanked the French side for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, practical and political support, and hoped that the close defence cooperation between the two countries would continue and become more versatile. Juansher Burchuladze highlighted France’s contribution in the process of developing the transformation of Georgian Defense Forces capabilities, implementation of the NATO-Georgian Essential Package (SNGP), and strengthening the air defence system.

Additionally, the parties at the meeting discussed security challenges in the region and the world. According to the Minister of Defense, in light of modern challenges and the new security architecture in Europe, it is more important for Georgia to support the French Republic and strengthen the partnership in defence and security.

At the meeting held at the Ministry of Defense, the parties also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of defence between Georgia and France. The importance of “Dmitry Amilakhvari’s strategic dialogue” was also noted. The talk was about the joint participation and contribution of Georgia in the EU military-training mission (EUTM RCA) and the contribution of Georgia in international missions.

Sheraz Gasri, who replaced Diego Kolas as Ambassador to Georgia, has been a political adviser to the United Nations since 2017 in France; from 2015-2017, the French diplomat worked as a diplomatic adviser to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
