United States: The White House National Security Council spokesman, John Kirby denounced the vandalism incident at the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, calling it to be totally unacceptable. Kirby stated that the US certainly condemns the act, and the State Department’s diplomatic security service, along with local authorities, are investigating the matter. The state department will work on repairing the damages.
The spokesman further added that United States further pledges to defend the safety and security of the consulate facilities and the diplomatic staff working in the Consulate offices.”
The videos of the vandalism in the San Francisco consulate have been making rounds across social media platforms, but Indian officials are yet to confirm the incident. Though the visuals confirm it to be an incident outside the Consulate, the exact date of the incident is still unknown.
In the viral videos, the aggressive mob can be seen brandishing the flags of Khalistan, mounted on wooden poles, which they used to break the glass doors and windows of the Consulate.
The Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS), an Indian awareness group, expressed the possibility of Pakistan’s Inter-services Intelligence(ISI) to be involved in the vandalism acts on the Indian mission in the United Kingdom and the United States.
As FIIDS stated, “ We suspect Pakistan’s spy agency ISI to be a driving force behind instigating and financially assisting Sikh radicalization with false propaganda. Thus, we urge the Indian Americans, including Sikh majority, to voice out against the extremism.”
It further added that the situation has left them appalled by the total failure of law and order in London as well as in San Francisco, with the radical separatists attacking Indian Commission”.
