Georgian Aviation hosts aerial celebrations on Independence Day

Tbilisi: Georgian Aviation congratulated Georgian citizens on Independence Day with newly modernized aircraft belonging to the Defense Forces and glaciers SU-25, MI-24, and UH-1 flying over the Tbilisi skies. In addition to the capital, Georgian aviation also flew over Telavi, Kutaisi and Batumi. 

The Independence Day event was attended by representatives of the legislative and executive government of Georgia, including Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili and Defense Minister, Juansher Burchuladze, the diplomatic corps and the Patriarchate. 

At the same time, the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan visited Georgia to specially congratulate Independence Day, and the Azerbaijani Military Secret Orchestra organized the event together with the Military-Performance Orchestra of the Georgian Defense Forces.

After the official part of the event, citizens inspected the Georgian and foreign-made military equipment, weapons and equipment in the Georgian Defense Forces on Freedom Square.  

Meanwhile, military equipment exhibitions were held in Tbilisi and 15 cities in Georgia, including Gori, Akhaltsikhe, Mtskheta, Rustavi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti, Poti, Tkibuli, Mestia, Ambrolauri, Akhalkalaki, Batumi, Telavi, Marneuli.

Since May 26 is one of the most important and special days in the history of our country, Georgia started celebrating Independence Day with one of the most responsible military components for defense forces in the capital and regions. 

Recruits of the Senior Sergeant Zaza Feradze Combat Training Center made a military oath in front of God and the nation, distinguished by history, culture and combat glory, in 10 regions of Georgia and on the main square of Tbilisi and became members of the large family of the Georgian Defense Forces.

The main event was held in Tbilisi, on Freedom Square.

Subdivisions of Defense Forces entered the square with the march performed by the military orchestra. After a ceremonial parade on Freedom Square, soldiers of the National Guard Saritual Service introduced the national flag and raised the national anthem. 

Guests and private staff at Gong Sound paid a minute’s silence to honor the country’s struggle for independence and territorial integrity while participating in international missions.

The military oath was taken in front of God and the nation in Batumi shipyard, Jumati, Martyrs Monastery, King Erekle Palace in Telavi, Lashari Cross, Nikortsminda Temple, Mother Monastery of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God in Nozhikhevi, Khertisi Castle, castle built by Queen Darejan in Tsurtavi and Gori Castle.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili and Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze congratulated the military on taking oath and joining the Defense Forces. The main military event on Freedom Square ended with the soldier’s speech.
