Tbilisi: Giorgi Amilakhvar, the Georgia Minister of Education and Science, met Laurens Meredith and Pavel Herchinski. Laurens Meredith is head of the Directorate for Relations and Enlargement of the European Commission’s Eastern Neighbourhood. Pavel Herchinski is the European Union’s Ambassador to Georgia. They discussed ongoing projects in education and science, plans for the future, and ways to strengthen cooperation between Georgia, the European Union, and other countries in the region.
Giorgi Amilakhvar expressed his gratitude to both the dignitaries for recommending the name of Georgia to grant candidate status in the European Commission. He said that this decision was very historic and memorable. He stated that this decision would pave the way for the full-fledged membership of Georgia.
Mininster also explained to the meeting participants the three plans for scientific development. These three plans included General, professional and higher levels of scientific development. This is a systematic approach of the Georgian Government for the advancement of science in the Georgia, the minister further added.
The minister also apprised participants that the establishment of the International School of Tbilisi is a unique flagship project and is a great and extraordinary example of the stronger relationship that exists between Georgia and the European Union. The education minister also talked about the other projects being carried out for the development of scientific works in the country. This major task of the country, that is is a dedicated school of science, will be completed before September 2024.
On the other hand, the representative of the European Union also expresses their satisfaction with the cooperation being extended by Georgia for stronger relations between both Georiga and the EU.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the “International European School –Tbilisi” is a major joint project between the Education Ministry of Georgia and the European Union. Moreover, This will be the first school which will be established outside the countries of the European Union.
The school Building will be as per the European Union standards. The area of school will have 26,090- square feet. It will also include community building, rugby, basketball, volleyball court, library and educational spaces.
