Tbilisi, Georgia: The official opening ceremony of the 57th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) was held at the Tbilisi State Concert Hall. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze opened the event.
Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and Asian Development Bank President Masatsugu Asakava addressed the guests at the official opening ceremony. Ioseb Bagaturia attended the official opening of the 57th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB)
The main motive of today’s meeting is “Bridge to the Future“, which best reflects Georgia’s course – by our decisions and steps, we create a more developed, economically robust, safe, and secure future for future generations – Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze spoke about it at the opening ceremony.
The head of government noted that Georgia’s strategic geographical location strengthens this vision, making the country a bridge connecting Europe and Asia.
“Our unique location allows us to be part of Europe at the same time while honorably carrying out the status of one of the heirs of the historic Silk Road.” With our strategic transport corridors, we are performing the most crucial role. Midway’s functioning has become a stable, safe, and reliable alternative to other routes. “We will continue to offer Asian businesses and investors the best business environment and provide them with the opportunity for expansion in the region,” the Prime Minister said and thanked the Asian Development Bank for its active support and successful cooperation over many years.
The event was attended by members of Georgia’s Cabinet of Ministers, representatives of the Parliament, First Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports Joseph Bagaturia, members of the delegation from different countries, and representatives of the banking sector. The music group Gori Women’s Chamber Choir, Ensemble “Basiani,” and National Ballet “Sukhishvili” organized the meeting.
On May 2-5, Georgia will host the 57th annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank for the first time. Up to 4000 guests from 68 countries will participate, including the Asian Development Bank President, Vice Presidents, bank executive directors, delegations from 68 member countries, and representatives of international financial institutions, the private sector, and international and civil society.
The Georgian government hosts the international forum. His issues are:
- Improving connections – European unions and the corridor.
- Discussing opportunities and impetus created in the field of financial technology.
- Prospects for new markets – local currency and bond market development.
