Georgia:Â The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, posted on his official Facebook page, “Congratulations on Victory Over Fascism Day! I especially congratulate the Georgian veterans of World War II, who gained victory over the cruel enemy of humanity with their fight and dedication.”
Since its independence in 1991, Georgia has officially recognized May 9 as Victory Over Fascism Day, a day of immense significance and pride. This holiday, which was similarly celebrated while the country was part of the Soviet Union, is a testament to our shared history and unity, particularly celebrated with the Russian community in the country.
Seventy-nine years have passed since the victory over fascism in the Second World War. Today, May 9, 79 years have passed since the victory over fascism in the Second World War.
The Second World War went down in history as the most significant and bloodiest conflict. The war, which lasted from 1941 to 1945, cost the lives of 300,000 Georgians. Battles took place on the territory of 40 states.
Georgia, in its fight against evil, made the greatest sacrifice. The commitment and valor of Georgian soldiers in World War II are immeasurable, a testament to their bravery and dedication, which is equally evident in some of the modern world’s missions or military operations.
The world still faces significant challenges. Russia’s aggression against Ukraine still reminds humanity that war always brings cruelty, brutality, and disasters.
Papuashvili pointed out that  Georgian soldiers’ dedication in the Second World War was immeasurable, as was their commitment to many missions and military operations in the modern world.
“As we commemorate humanity’s victory over fascism, let us reaffirm our commitment to peace. Our top priority is to ensure the safety of our citizens and to prevent the celebration of evil, the victory of death over life. On this significant day, I extend my wishes for peace to our country and the entire world, once again emphasizing the importance of peace in our lives,” He concluded.
