Inter-Departmental Commission held a meeting  about  October general election

As the National Parliament election is fast approaching in Georgia a inter-department meeting  discussed the plans, other measures  and security arrangements for the peaceful   election process.

Tbilisi: As the National Parliament election is fast approaching in Georgia the various agencies are preparing for the peaceful and successful election scheduled in October this year. A inter-department meeting  discussed the plans, other measures  and security arrangements for the peaceful   election process.

 

Here  it is worth mentioning that the inter-departmental commission was established in accordance with the Election Code. Its purpose is to prevent violations of election legislation by public servants and to respond to violations. Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze heads the commission.

 

Moreover  at this first session  the commission heard and discussed the “State Services Development Agency report ” on which an order was passed to execute and complete the election lists. The members of the commission also discussed organizational issues that need immediate attention.

At the same time  in monitoring the election environment  the inter-agency commission will study the information disseminated in the media and the information provided by political unions and monitoring organizations to ensure a fair election process. In response to the identified incidents  the required recommendations will be forwarded so that timely action can be taken to prevent the violation of election legislation.

 

The commission’s session was chaired by the commission’s chairman, Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze. Moreover  commission members from different ministries also participated in its work. They included representatives from the Ministry of Justice, internal affairs, foreign affairs, finance, Defense, regional development and infrastructure education, science, and youth.

 

The deputy Ministers of IDPs from occupied territories from labor, health, and social protection  as well as the heads of the General Prosecutor’s Office, Special Investigation Service, State Security Service, City Hall of Tbilisi Municipality, State Audit Service, and Central Election Commission  were also present in this session.

 

The inter-departmental commission will work until the CEC officially publishes the final election results. It is worth noting that the Commission can be provided with information on matters within its competence if there is any  violation of code of conduct as well.
