Georgia: The grape harvest in the municipalities of Dedoplistskaro and Sighnaghi is currently in full swing, with everyone actively involved. The industry’s dedication and hard work are testaments to the progress.

By September 5, 2024, a remarkable twenty-five (25) thousand tons of grapes had already been processed, including up to 12 thousand tons of Rkatsiteli, up to 7.5 thousand tons of brown, and the rest of the different varieties of grapes. This significant progress is a testament to the industry’s resilience and potential for growth.

The grape harvest is set to begin in Gurjaani, Kvareli, and Telavi in the coming days, sparking anticipation and excitement for the industry’s promising future.

As of today, 300 wineries are already registered at the Harvest Coordination Headquarters, which will step-by-step participate in the process of grape processing.

In 2024 year, the forecasted harvest of grapes will be 300 thousand tons. Also, according to the preliminary forecast, more than 500 wineries will be involved in the harvest.

In order to promote the realization of grape harvest by vineyard farmers and to support the stable development of the winery, the Georgian government is implementing crop subsidies this year as well. This subsidy, which will enable more than 20 thousand vineyards to realize the harvest, and 500 companies involved in the harvesting, to buy and process grapes smoothly, is a significant step towards the industry’s growth.

All companies purchasing and processing at least 100 tons of Rkatsiteli grapes smoked in the Kakheti region during the 2024 harvest will pay at least 1.00 Gel for 1 kg of grapes.

In the city of Telavi, the Coordination Headquarters of the Harvest and the hotline (1501) of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia work 24 hours a day.
