Tbilisi: In a turn of events a court of appeals there rejected the decision of court have rejected the decision of Gori court. Gori court had ordered the recounting of ballots in its order.
The Court of Appeal annulled the Gori court’s decision about the recent concluding election. The Gori court ordered recounting the voting in 15 country precincts after complaints about the allegation of poll code violation.
It is to be added that the appellate court’s decision states, “We are not fully satisfied with the decision of the Gori court. The court’s decision was announced without any solid proof proving the allegation of the poll code violations.”
This latest information has been shared by “Fair Elections.” It is to be noted that some days ago, on November 4, the Gori court ordered in favour of the ISFED. The ISFED soon filed the case after the election decision.
They demanded an investigation of illegal measures to influence the poll code in their case. The court’s decision will also affect the decisions in other cases. On the other hand, the court of appeals of Tbilisi has also been considering the complaints of a civil association “My Voice.”
Another GYLA, Georgian Young Lawyer Association has also filed a similar complaint to investigate the matter of Georgian code violation. The election for Georgia’s Parliament concluded last month. Since then many opposition parties have been demanding an investigation into election fraud.
All the parties and organizations are blaming the ruling party, Georgian Dream for misusing authorities to influence public opinion in their favour. The President of the Republic of Georgia also said that he would not recognize the election result.
On the other hand the Georgian Dream has rejected all the allegations. The Prime Minister himself has denied all the allegations. He also said the Georgian Dream is committed to uplifting democratic values overall and will take more initiative in this direction.
