Tbilisi: Maka Botchorishvili the newly appointed foreign minister of Georgia rejected allegation about suspending relations with European Union. She said Georgia have not suspended its relationship with European Union and we will continue our efforts for integration into European Union.
Maka Botchorishvili gave this statement during an interview with a TV channel. While sharing her views, minister said that these are totally false allegation. Moreover, even the new government under the leadership of “Georgian Dream” is committed for integration in European Union.
It is worth to note that the Georgian government has recently announced to suspend talks for integration in European Union. The government decided to hold talks until the year 2028.
The opposition parties and well as many organisations have been protesting this decision of Government. They alleged Georgian Dream government for allowing unnecessary interference on Russia in internal affairs of country.
Some opposition party highlighted that, the unnecessary interference of Russia in foreign policy of Georgia will affect Georgia’s relation of other foreign country. Moreover, this may also affect the journey of Georgia towards European Union the county striving for since long time.
While speaking further on the recent developments in country, especially the ongoing protests which are being held in capital Tbilisi against this decision of Government.
She said that foreign ministry as well as the Georgia government under visionary leadership of Prime Minister is always ready to have good and stable relations with European Union.
She also made this clear the people with vested interest are accusing Georgia, however in fact it was not Georgia but European Union itself which caused some troubles for Georgia. The European Union have limited its dialogue with Georgia in June.
In the end of this interview, she however expressed hopes that, the existing circumstances which have created negative environment will disappears shortly. The new circumstances will create new opportunity for stable bilateral relations in future which will benefit both sides.”
