Genava, Switzerland: The Minister of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Welfare of Georgia, Mikheil Sarjveladze participated in the 78th session of the World Health Assembly, held in Geneva.
The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Welfare of Georgia shared glimpses of the 78th World Health Assembly on its Official Facebook page on May 21, 2025, Wednesday. The Ministry also shared the details of the session along with the photographs.
At the World Health Assembly, he gave a lecture in which, he focused his attention on current and planned healthcare reforms in Georgia. The main aim of this was to improve the access to services for citizens.
The minister emphasized the importance of the primary healthcare reform, which is being implemented in the country now. He also spoke about the positive impact of the DRG payment model, reference pricing on medicines, and the implementation of direct purchase mechanisms from innovative drug manufacturers.
According to Mikheil Sarjveladze’s statement, these initiatives have improved the management of chronic diseases, the annual limits on oncological medicines were abolished and the financial security of citizens has increased. The Minister, during his speech, focused on fruitful cooperation and plans with the World Health Organization.
Furthermore, it should be noted that along with Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Permanent Representative of Georgia, Revaz Lominadze also participated in the Assembly with the UN Department and other international organizations.

Within the framework of the 78th World Health Assembly, the Georgian Minister of Health held bilateral meetings in Geneva. Notably, Mikheil Sarjveladze held meetings with Tedros Adanom Gebreisu, Director General of the World Health Organization, Hans Kluge, Regional Director of Health Europe, as well as representatives of the Global Foundation and Turkish Minister of Health.
