The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has indicted one person on June 23, 2025, Monday. He was arrested on the facts of the illegal purchase, and possession of a large number of drugs, as well as the unlawful purchase and possession of firearms and military material.
The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this heinous crime through its official Facebook Page. The police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
Cause of charges
According to the details shared by the Georgian Prosecution Service, it should be noted that the Georgian Prosecution Service stated, “ the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the defendant had illegally purchased and stored especially large quantities of drugs “Methadone” (Foundation) and “Buprenorphine“.
It should also be noted that the accused illegally acquired and stored a particularly large amount of “Makarov” construction firearms and ammunition.
Criminal charges were laid on the suspect
Law enforcement officers arrested the defendant on June 18. He was charged under Article 236, Part 3 (Illegal Acquisition and Storage of Firearms and Ammunition) and Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph “a” (Illegal Acquisition and Storage of Narcotics in Especially Large Quantities) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
The presented charge considers imprisonment of up to 20 years or life imprisonment. The Prosecutor’s Office will apply to the court within the time limit established by law with a motion to impose imprisonment as a preventive measure on the accused.
Notably, there is huge public support for the law enforcement agency for these drives to make the country crime-free. The prosecutor’s office is pursuing a strict criminal policy against drug dealers, which it will continue to do in the future.
