Batumi, Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia indicted one person on the charge of attempted murder. The incident took place on July 6, 2025, Sunday, in Batumi.
The Prosecution Service of Georgia posted the details of this heinous crime on its official Facebook Page on July 9, 2025, Wednesday. The Prosecution Service also shared glimpses of the arrests made by them along with the details.
Cause of charges
The Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted an in-depth investigation into this case. According to the investigation, it has been established that on July 6th of this year, the defendant caused life-threatening injuries to the victim with a knife and tried to hide from the scene, when law enforcers arrested him. Due to timely medical help, the victim was saved.
Criminal charges were laid against the suspect
The detainee was charged under Article 19, 108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (attempted murder), which considers imprisonment of up to 15 years as a punishment.
The investigation into the criminal case continues, all necessary investigative and procedural actions are being carried out, and relevant examinations have been ordered, including a medical examination to determine the cause of the victim’s death. After receiving the examination report, the charges may be aggravated.
Notably, the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has taken many initiatives to stop violent incidents in the country. The office is working around the clock to ensure law and order in order in country. The officials of the prosecution office in coordination with other law enforcement agencies have taken steps in this direction as well.
It is also to be noted that last year many violent incidents took place during protests against foreign agents. The prosecution office has dealt with such incidents very strictly and brought the culprits to justice.
