Georgia and Kazakhstan talk energy and green power cooperation

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, held a meeting with the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Erlan Akenzhanov, on Monday, July 21, 2025. During the meeting, the ministers discussed the cooperation of the two countries in the field of energy.

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, held a meeting with the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Erlan Akenzhanov, on Monday, July 21, 2025. During the meeting, the ministers discussed the cooperation of the two countries in the field of energy.

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development shared the glimpses of their meeting on its official Facebook page on July 21, 2025. The Ministry also shared some information related to the discussions held at the meeting, along with its photographs.

According to the information shared by the Georgian Economy Ministry, it should be noted that special emphasis was placed on Kazakh energy resources, especially the transport of carbon to Europe through the use of transit infrastructure to Georgia.

It has been noted that Kazakhstan carries out carbon transportation both through the Baku-Tbilisi-Jehan oilfield and through the Batumi oil terminal – this year, 1.5 million tons of crude oil is planned to be transported.

It was said that Georgia is interested in allowing Kazakhstan to transport more carbon through the Georgian transit corridor and, to this end, is ready to discuss directions for potential cooperation with the Kazakh side.

At the meeting, the parties also talked about the relations between the two countries. “Green” in the field of electricity production and transportation. Kazakhstan is interested in supplying “green” electricity to the European market and, in this regard, will consider the use of Georgia’s transmission infrastructure.

The meeting also touched upon the possibility of implementing Kazakh investments in Georgia’s energy sector.

The meeting was held in the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan within the framework of the official visit of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili.

Deputy Ministers Genadi Arveladze and Guram Guramishvili, and Irakli Meskheli, the temporary trustee of Georgian affairs in the Republic of Kazakhstan, attended the meeting.
