Marneuli Municipality, Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged three individuals with the facts of intentional serious injury to health and gang violence in Marneuli Municipality on Monday, August 18, 2025.
The Prosecution Service of Georgia shared a glimpse of the arrests made by them, along with some information about this heinous crime. According to the information shared by the Georgian Prosecution Service, it should be noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
Cause of charges
According to the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was determined that on August 16, in Marneuli, one of the defendants, out of jealousy, inflicted life-threatening injuries on the victim with a knife, and his companions committed violence against the victim.
Criminal charges were laid against the suspect
The law enforcement officers arrested all three defendants on the same day. Notably, one person was charged under Part 1 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional serious injury to health), which provides for a sentence of 4 to 7 years in prison.
Furthermore, the other two individuals were charged under Article 126, Part 1, Subparagraph “b” (beating, committed in a group), which provides for up to two years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.
The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has already petitioned the court to use imprisonment as a preventive measure against all three defendants. Furthermore, the investigation into the Marneuli Gang Violence Case continues at the Ministry of Internal Affairs to identify other individuals involved in the crime. The officials expected that the further investigation would reveal more details.
It is to be specifically mentioned that law enforcement agencies are working in collaboration to tackle the country’s increasing crime rate. The law enforcers are also organising seminars and workshops to inform people about the strict legal provisions.
At the same time, legal provisions are being made more strict so that accused persons can be prevented from committing offenses due to fear of the law.
