The Poti City Hall also shared this announcement via its official Facebook Page on August 21, 2025, noting the project’s importance for the city’s long-term development.
According to the details shared by the City Hall of Poti Municipality, it should be noted that the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure has started preparing project documentation for the renewal of the Maltakva coastline in Poti.
The main aim of the project was to transform the seaside and surrounding areas in Maltakvi settlement into a multifunctional recreational space, which will be attractive to both locals and visitors in all seasons.
The development area within the project includes 244.65 hectares and covers the Maltakva coast, the forest park, the surrounding areas of the Golden, Silver, and Thesea lakes, as well as both the beaches of the Rioni channel and Nikoladze island.
It is planned to renovate the beach with children’s and sports areas, food, and entertainment facilities in the area.
In Maltakvi Forest Park, the recreational landscape space will be developed with minimal infrastructural intervention. Inventory of existing fertilizers, healing of plant cover, and restoration of the ecosystem are planned.
The renewal of the beaches is taken into account in the areas near the lakes and Nikoladze Island, where sports and entertainment areas will also be arranged.
In addition, the project envisages setting up decorative and drinking water fountains, open showers, recreation areas, sports and children’s playgrounds, an amphitheater, pedestrian and bicycle paths, and animal walking spaces in the area.
Implementation of the project serves to develop the tourist potential of Poti and strengthen the local economy.
