Telavi Municipality, Georgia: The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has indicted one person for the intentional murder of his wife in aggravating circumstances in the village of Jughaani, Telavi Municipality.
The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this heinous crime through its official Facebook Page on Sunday, October 5, 2025. The police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
Cause of charges
According to the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was established that on October 1, in the village of Jughaani of Telavi municipality, the accused stabbed his wife in the chest with a knife, which resulted in her death.
The case has once again raised concerns about domestic violence in Georgia, with rights groups urging stronger preventive measures and more public awareness campaigns to protect women from gender-based violence.
Criminal charges were laid against the suspect
The detainee was charged under the sub-closures “T” and “K” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional murder in aggravated circumstances, due to unrest in the equality of men and women, against a family member), which provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
The Prosecutor’s Office has already applied to the court for a preventive measure of imprisonment against the accused.
Notably, there is huge public support for the law enforcement agency for these drives to make the country crime-free, and it should also be noted that the Prosecutor’s Office will also apply to the Court within the time limit established by law with a motion to impose imprisonment on the defendant as a preventive measure.
