The Georgian Prosecution Service shared the details of this heinous crime through its official Facebook Page on October 8, 2025, Wednesday. The police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
Cause of charges
As a result of the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was established that the defendant illegally purchased and stored a particularly large amount of the narcotic drug methadone (base), 63.086 grams, which was intended for sale.
The Law enforcement officers of Georgia seized the previous narcotic substances during a personal search of the defendant.
Criminal charges were laid against the suspect
It is worth noting that the detainee was charged under Article 260, Part Three, Subparagraph “A” (Illegal Purchase and Storage of Narcotic Drugs in Especially Large Quantities) and Article 260, Part Six, Subparagraph “A” (Promoting the Illegal Sale of Narcotic Drugs in Especially Large Quantities) of the Criminal Code. Notably, it provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.
Based on the prosecutor’s motion, one defendant has already been sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure, while the court will consider the issue of imposing imprisonment on the other within the time limit established by law.
Notably, there is huge public support for the law enforcement agency for these drives to make the country drug-free. The Georgian prosecutor’s office is pursuing a strict criminal policy against drug dealers, which it will continue to do in the future.
