Lower Kartli, Georgia: The Director General of the National Agency for Protection of Cultural Heritage, Tea Onian, held a working meeting with the mayors of regional municipalities and heads of architecture services at the Bolnisi Museum to discuss the concept for the development of museum infrastructure and visitor centers, as well as the agency’s activities.
Along with Tea Onian, David Lortkipanidze, General Director of the National Museum, and Deputy General Director of the Agency Nugzar Chkheidze were also present at the meeting. Tea Onyan introduced the general principles of the agency, goals, and services that the agency offers to the community.
Special focus has been placed on activating cooperation between agencies and municipalities, as the protection of cultural heritage monuments is a joint responsibility of all parties.
The meeting noted that in the process of maintenance and rehabilitation of cultural heritage monuments, cooperation between the agency and the local government, and planning joint measures are necessary.
Emphasized the need for agency involvement in the process of issuing building permits and a unified approach to avoid the risk of improper debris in the physical or visual protection of cultural heritage monuments.
David Lortkipanidze, the Director General of the National Museum, presented the concept of the development of museums in the Lower Kartli region, which includes the development of the surrounding areas of museums and archaeological objects in the region, to make them more attractive to visitors.
Davit Lortkipanidze stressed the cooperation between the National Museum and the National Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, which ensures proper management of processes.
It was noted that a working format will be created, which will ensure the involvement of all necessary government and private organizations in the concept implementation process.
The meeting was attended by the State Commissioner in Lower Kartli, Ilia Jalaghania, mayors of the municipalities of the Lower Kartli region, heads of the Architecture Service, representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development, and the National Tourism Administration.
