An expanded session of the Governmental Commission on Civil Equality and Integration was held on May 4, 2026, Monday. It was organized by the Office of the Minister of State and chaired by the Minister of State, Tea Akhvlediani.
Tea Akhvlediani addressed the participants of the session with a welcome speech and introduced the main priorities of the work implemented in 2025 within the framework of the action plan of civil equality and integration towards ethnic minorities for the 2021-2030 State Strategy.
The Minister of State spoke in detail about the tangible results achieved under the implemented policy, as well as the ongoing needs. According to Tea Akhvlediani, the policy is in line with existing needs and ensures the creation of opportunities necessary for full inclusion in ethnic minority communities. This will be confirmed both by official reports, independent mid-term estimates, and various research data.
The Minister of State noted that to ensure the effectiveness of the ten-year strategy, it is important to assess progress dynamics as well as impact on the target segment, to analyze a unified picture and trends together with the field agencies, state officials, and local government representatives involved in strategy implementation, and focus on following up action planning with a systematic approach.
“At today’s session, we presented the results of the consolidated report of the implementation of the strategy for civil integration with ethnic minorities and the first mid-term assessment, which confirms significant progress in practically every strategic direction, be it public language teaching, quality education, socio-economic integration, or cross-cultural dialogue.” Right, based on a comprehensive analysis of achieved results and pending needs, we have agreed on further targeted action and are beginning the process of developing the 2027-2028 Action Plan, which serves to further develop our multidimensional policy to gradually and fully achieve all the priority goals set for 2030,” the President said. During the meeting, Lia Gigaur, First Deputy Minister of State, introduced the main results of the first mid-term evaluation of the “social and economic integration” strategy priority and the “survey on the needs of women from ethnic minorities” to the participants of the meeting.
There was a discussion about achievements, trends, and challenges that are still there in strategy implementation.
The meeting was attended by permanent and invited members of the Governmental Commission on Civil Equality and Integration, who are directly involved in the strategy implementation and evaluation process.
