The mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, together with Gela Chiviashvili, the head of the Civil Service of Health and Social Services, visited the socially vulnerable pensioner Tsisana Bolkvadze, who uses a 500-GEL financing program for medicines.
The mayor of the capital listened to his needs, wished him courage along with health, and helped him for the future.
“It is not necessary to have a physical voucher to take advantage of the Medication Financing Program.” It is possible to take advantage of this assistance electronically. All it takes is an electronic doctor’s appointment, based on which the beneficiary can go to any pharmacy, any time of the year, and receive the medications they need. Sadly, there are people, families that need support, support. Many people are suffering; it is not an easy situation, and we, within the scope of our capabilities, as long as there is a necessity, will stand by them and help them in any way possible,” said Kakha Kaladze.
In her turn, Tsisana Bolkvadze expressed her gratitude for the existence of the Medicines Financing Program. As he noted, he has sustained several injuries, which require a lot of medications that he could not purchase with his own funds alone.
“The Medication Funding Program for a lonely, socially vulnerable pensioner like me is a huge privilege.” Unfortunately, I had to go to treatment recently, and if it wasn’t for this help, it would be very difficult to afford medication. Thanks to Tbilisi City Hall and personally you, Mr. Kakha, for implementing such a necessary program, – said Tsisana Bolkvadze.
Tbilisi City Hall financed up to 226 thousand requests within the framework of the Medicines Financing Program. According to Kakha Kaladze’s election promise, the program “Financing medicines for socially vulnerable pensioners” has been launched by the City Hall.
The beneficiaries of the program, according to the unified database of socially vulnerable families, are pensioners registered in Tbilisi, whose family rating points do not exceed 200,000.
Socially vulnerable pensioners will be given medicines according to the doctor’s prescription. A citizen with a health card form N100 gets his electronically prescribed medications at his preferred pharmacy. A pensioner can use the amount determined by the program throughout the year, until the limit (500 GEL) expires, multiple times.
The 2026 budget of the mentioned program of the Civil Service of Tbilisi City Hall of Health and Social Services is 10 million GEL. More than 28,000 citizens benefit from this program every year.
