The Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, took part in the graduation event of the first graduates of integrated vocational education programs.
The Minister congratulated the young people on their graduation and wished them success in their future endeavors. During his speech, Givi Mikanadze paid special attention to the importance of implementing integrated vocational education programs in schools.
The Education Minister said, “The main goal was, by implementing integrated vocational programs in public schools, to enable young people to master the profession, along with full general education. Today a goal has been achieved – through the completion of these programmes, young people in school, alongside general education, gained practical knowledge and skills to help them develop their profession in the future.”
“When I see young people who have already taken a significant step towards their careers, I am convinced even more that this initiative was very necessary and timely. Notably, some of the graduates have already been given employment opportunities as soon as they finish their studies, – said Givi Mikanadze.
During the event, the minister gave tokens of thanks to the principals of public schools involved in the project for their significant contribution to the development of the program.
Giorgi Chakvetadze, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Education, Science and Youth Affairs of the Parliament of Georgia, and Deputy Minister of Refugees, Labor, Health and Social Protection Giorgi Tsagareishvili addressed the graduates.
Integrated vocational educational programs will be implemented in 20 public schools in Georgia in 2024 in pilot mode, and at this stage the programs are already implemented in more than 80 public schools. Therefore, today more young people are being allowed to obtain both a full General Education certificate and a professional diploma upon completion of school.
The event was attended by deputies of the Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Baia Kvitsiani and Tamar Makharashvili, members of the Parliament of Georgia, representatives of vocational educational institutions and public schools, employers and other guests.
