The Chairman of the Adjara Government, Zurab Pataradze, met with the Governor of Artvin Province of Turkey, Turan Ergun, on October 8, 2026, Thursday.
The Government of Adjara shared glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on Thursday, along with a brief note about the discussions held at the meeting.
At the meeting, the relations between Georgia and Turkey, the issues of expanding trade and economic ties between Adjara and Artvin, and the development of the border line were discussed. Pay special attention to mid-corridor prospects. In this context, Zurab Pataradze spoke about the new Batumi-Sarpi highway project, which will simplify movement to the border and increase cargo traffic.
It is noteworthy that within the framework of regional cooperation, Zurab Pataradze’s first official visit took place in the Republic of Turkey. According to the government chairman, the decision highlights the importance of deepening long-standing friendship and partnership with the neighboring region.
The meeting discussed the dynamics of tourism development between the regions, new opportunities, and strengthening interpersonal relations. It was noted that the implementation of joint cultural, humanitarian, and educational projects should be continued in even larger formats in the future.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to promote the development of the regions and further deepen the partnership.
