A delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India headed by the Secretary of the Ministry for Western Affairs, Sanjay Verma, on July 5-6, 2022, paid a visit to Georgia.
Within the framework of the visit, another round of political consultations was held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and India, which was led by Sanjay Verma from the Indian side, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, from the Georgian side.
Within the framework of consultations, the parties discussed current issues of the development of relations between the two countries in a bilateral and multilateral format. Among them, special attention was paid to trade-economic, investment, transport, tourism, culture and education spheres, as well as the need to expand people-to-people ties. Prospects for the development of the existing legal base between Georgia and India and the development of cooperation within international organizations were discussed.
During the conversation, the parties also exchanged information and opinions regarding the ongoing processes in the world, as well as the current situation in the South Caucasus and South Asia regions. Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili thanked Sanjay Verma for India’s steadfast support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Taking into account that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the possibility of organizing relevant cultural events was discussed.
The parties agreed that in the future, they will continue active cooperation in the format of political consultations.
