The Chairman of the Adjara Government, Zurab Pataradze, visited the gymnasium named after St. Matata the Apostle and got acquainted with the educational infrastructure. Along with the Chairman, the Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, was also present there.
The Government of Adjara shared glimpses of the Chairman’s visit to the educational infrastructure on its official Facebook Page on July 22, 2026, Wednesday. The Government also shared a small note about the infrastructure along with the photographs.
Dimitri, the Metropolitan of Batumi and Lazeti, presented to the guests the activities of the gymnasium, plans, and development vision.
According to Zurab Pataradze, the modern, orderly environment created in the gymnasium that is adapted to the needs of children will contribute to the spiritual development of young people and strengthening national values. The parties also talked about opportunities for further expansion and development of educational infrastructure.
St. Matata the Apostle’s Gymnasium has been functioning since 2022. At this stage, up to 120 students are studying in the institution. The gymnasium hostel has educational and artistic spaces, a mosaic workshop, and various infrastructure for student development. The complex also unites the spaces for monastery purposes.
The Chairman of the Government and the Minister also visited the monastery complex named after Saint Georgians.
In the Gymnasium, Maya Khajishvili, Minister of Education and Sports of Adjara and Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Zviad Gabisonia were also present.
