The administration of Akhaltsikhe have started meeting with the general populations. The meeting is being held under the “Village support program”.
The glimpses of meeting have been shared on social media handles also. The official Facebook page of municipality stated that, “The meetings with the population have begun in Akhaltsikhe Municipality to select projects to be implemented within the framework of the “Village Support Program”.
It further added that, “According to a pre-established schedule, the first meeting was held in the villages of Tiseli and Tkemlana, which are part of the Atskuri administrative unit.”
It is worth to note that the general meetings were attended by the Chairman of the Sakrebulo Davit Lomidze, first deputy Davit Tabatadze, Deputy Saba Kbilashvili, Commission members Zoia Baliashvili, Bondo Talakhadze, Municipality Mayor Irakli Lazarashvili, Deputy Vazha Gachechiladze and City Hall service heads.
It is worth noting that the representatives of local self-government discussed the needs of the villages with residents and selected the projects to be implemented within the framework of the program by a majority vote.
In order to select projects, the residents of Tiseli, Tkemlani and Atskuri, by majority vote, decided for themselves what the funds allocated for the settlement would be used for.
The selected priorities will be submitted to the Akhaltsikhe Municipality Council for approval and the procedures for purchasing project and cost accounting documentation will begin soon as well.
On the other hand the Mayor and other representatives of the Government said that the meeting are being held in almost all the municipality of country. Moreover this is best way to engage population in process of effective policy formulation and its implementation as well.
The Mayor said that views and suggestion shared by public will be taken into account so that maximum persons can avail benefits under the proposed project of village support program.
Moreover, he also assures to take steps for maximising public participation in decision making of Government as well.
