Recently on the initiative of the Culture Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, a concluding panel discussion was held. The meeting aimed to discuss the issues of reform, accessibility, and legislative changes in the artistic education system of country.
The Mayor of the Rustavi city hall Nino Latsabidze also attended the meeting. While sharing his thoughts she said that “the field of artistic education needs large reform that will improve the working conditions of teachers. We need to have a decent salary for these people and make art schools more interesting and attractive for our children”.
Chairman of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, Mayor of Rustavi Nino Latsabidze, Chairman of Culture Committee Eliso Bolkvadze, and Chairman of Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee Givi Mikanadze also attended the meeting.
Nino Latsabidze spoke about the importance of the development of art education and emphasized the need to reform this field so that art education can be promoted across the globe with a special focus on Georgian art, culture, and history.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the participants of the discussion were also addressed by the deputies of the Ministery of Education and Culture of Georgia as well as by the Minister of Education of Adjara region along with the Member of the Latvian Parliament and the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia.
Speakers on this occasion while addressing the attendees in the format of panel discussion, introduced experts and teachers of Tbilisi, Rustavi, and Mtskheta municipalities to the main issues that need to be done for the legislative reform of art education in the country as well. The talk during the event also touched on challenges in arts education, focusing on infrastructure projects, finances, and status in arts education.
The meeting was also attended by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze as well as the representatives of the legislative and executive authorities. It is also to be added that after its Starting in 2021, the Parliamentary Culture Committee has started thematic meetings with representatives of the art field to study the current situation.
Then in 2023 large-scale panel discussions were held in different regions of the country. Where more than 5000 representatives of the art field participated and shared their thoughts with the participants of the event as well.
