Batumi, Georgia: The construction of the ice arena of international standards in Batumi, which was started in June last year enters its final stage.
This ice arena’s primary goal is to support the growth of winter ice sports in Georgia and Batumi. It will also support Georgia’s ice hockey development. The arena will help Georgia participate in international competitions.
The Batumi City Hall shared a video of Tornike Rizhvadze discussing the continuing construction of the ice arena on January 20, 2025, on its official Facebook page.
According to the video shared by the City Hall of Batumi, it is concluded that the Chairman of the Adjara Government Tornike Rizhvadze visited and inspected the construction of the ice arena and the ongoing works.
The chairman noted that Batumi is all set to host the 2025 Winter Youth Olympics with a new sports infrastructure of modern standards. The second stage of construction started in 2024 and will be completed in 2026. In 2025, the ice arena will host the European Winter Youth Olympics.
The chairman also noted that these construction works include the construction of a new, modern standard swimming pool which will be completed by the end of 2025.
According to the small note shared by the City hall, it was reported that the sports complex includes an ice rink for 1500 spectators of Olympic standards and a 10-lane, 2.1-meter-high swimming pool for 800 spectators.
According to the chairman, the construction works of the ice rink are almost completed, at this stage. It should also be noted that the complex will host international competitions in figure skating, as well as ice and figure sports.
The Chairman also appreciated the workers involved in the construction process of the sports complex. He appreciated their hard work and dedication towards their work.
