Georgia: Employees of national bank plant trees on earth day

The employees of the National Bank of Georgia had planted the pine trees and launched a cleaning drive. The events were held near Mtskheta to mark the world earth day.

The employees of the National Bank of Georgia had planted the pine trees and launched a cleaning drive. The events were held near Mtskheta to mark the world earth day.

Almost thirty employees of the National Bank of Georgia were present on this occasion. They were very excited to be part of this noble social cause.  It is to be added that the national bank is very active in promoting events that are directed towards sustainable development. These initiatives by the bank held as part of corporate social responsibility.

 

Notably the world Earth Day is being celebrated since 1970 in many countries of the world. However the day gained late recognition in Georgia. The day in Georgia was first time celebrated in the year 1990. Since then number of activities by the civil, government, and non-government organizations are being conducted. 

 

Employees come to the spot with plant seedlings, water tanks as well as a big carry bag. They dug earth  the and then planted these pine trees in a systematic pattern. The water tanks were used by the employees to water new plants. At the same time  there was a drive to clean the area. All the present employees were part of this drive. They collected the scattered garbage like plastic bottles, wrappers, waste papers, and other waste materials deposited there by the locals.

They collected all the waste material in the carry bag to dispose of the garbage at the proper decomposition site. While sharing their experience bank employee said this was a great opportunity to contribute a little bit to the protection the Mother Earth.  Similarly some employees stated that such cleaning drives should be organized regularly with the involvement of a maximum number of citizens.

 

They also expressed the need to launch awareness to apprise the local population about the importance of environment protection and cleaning drives.  In the end all the employees posed for a group picture and took the pledge to spread awareness on the environmental issues with a maximum number of people so that the flora and fauna of the country can be protected from the adverse affect of climate change and global warming, etc.
