Daily COVID Updates: Georgia reports 2,465 new cases, 25 deaths

The health authorities of Georgia said the country has reported 2,465 new cases of COVID-19, with 12,840 recoveries and 25 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks in Georgia stands at 26.54 per cent.

The health authorities of Georgia said the country has reported 2,465 new cases of COVID-19, with 12,840 recoveries and 25 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks in Georgia stands at 26.54 per cent.

Overall, there are currently 85,122 active cases of Coronavirus throughout the country. 

Moreover, according to health authorities, a total of 14,138 tests were conducted all over the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 7,910 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 6,228 were PCR tests.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,605,472 cases of Coronavirus. Out of 1,605,472 cases of COVID-19, a total of 1,504,161 patients have recovered, while 16,163 people have succumbed to it.

The new 2,465 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. 

  • Tbilisi – 1,241 cases 
  • Adjara – 194 cases 
  • Imereti – 376 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli – 116 cases 
  • Shida Kartli – 111 cases 
  • Guria – 89 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 143 cases 
  • Kakheti – 97 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 35 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 45 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 18 cases

The new Omicron variant of Coronavirus accounts for about 85% of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Furthermore, there are currently 4,595 patients who are undergoing treatment in hospitals in Georgia, while 80,110 people are undergoing treatment at home and by consulting their family doctors.

Besides this, 1,046 people infected with COVID-19 are in critical condition, out of which 278 people are on artificial ventilation. 

As of today, around 33.5% of the total population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which accounts for 12.5L people. As of now, around 29L doses of vaccine has been given.

Earlier, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) of Georgia also announced that Georgia would receive up to 50,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine for Covid-19, which is especially for children aged between five to twelve years, in the 2nd quarter of the year to curb the COVID-19.
