Roseau, Commonwealth of Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit announced the opening of the American Canadian School of Medicine by September 2023, with about 50 students already enrolled at the institution. The information was shared by PM Skerrit during a press conference held at the Dominican Ministry of Finance on May 10, 2023.
As PM Skerrit envisaged, the number of students at the institution will eventually rise by the beginning of the spring semester in January 2024. He further added that the country sought options for replacement schools after the Ross Univeristy, which led to the foundation of the American Canadian School of Medicine.
At the same time, PM Roosevelt Skerrit expressed his pleasure in the fact that Medicine school is progressing ahead at a significant pace and will be commencing its operations from September 2023 with a vision to prepare physicians that cater to the medical demands of the nation and keep up with the Primary Care Global Health Systems to serve the community.
In addition to this, the School of Medicine aims to provide apt circumstances and environment to train students to perform at the peak of their potential under any conditions.
Meanwhile, PM Skerrit held a working meeting with representatives of the international agency for accreditation and rating on May 3, 2023. PM Skerrit was accompanied by members of the cabinet and high-ranking public officials at this meeting, where they discussed close cooperation between the Government of Commonwealth of Dominica and the University.
On the brighter side, PM Skerrit assured the accreditors of unconditional support to the University to ensure that students receive the best of education and build a mutually beneficial partnership with the University.
