Georgia: Applications for National Teacher Award will be accepted from April 22

Giorgi Amilakhvar the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, announced the dates for submitting the application for the National Teacher Award. The application will be accepted from April 22 to July 5. Minster gave this information during a press conference.

Giorgi Amilakhvari specifically stated that “Last year the Government of Georgia established the National Teacher’s Day, which is celebrated on October 27th every year across the country. The competition was held for the first time last year and the involvement of teachers was quite high. This year we are already preparing for the second competition and from April 22 we are starting the first stage for accepting applications”.

He also added that the 2024 competition will be larger, more teachers will be involved, and various preliminary activities will be held in all regions and municipalities of Georgia before the final event.

While encouraging the teachers to participate he said “We urge all teachers to participate in this competition. The competition will be more meaningful. We along with other important reforms continue to support teachers and take a number of steps toward valuing their profession.”

It is to be noted that just like last year “within the framework of the National Teacher Award the winners will be selected who will be awarded the National Teacher Award. “

This Press conference was held at the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, with media representatives. The conference was attended by more than 200 teachers; among them the winners of the National Teacher Award 2023 were also present.

National Teacher’s Day is celebrated on October 27th every year in memory of the Georgian teacher, founder of scientific pedagogy in Georgia, publicist, children’s writer and public activist Jakob Gogebashvili.

In addition every year for their special contribution to the development of society and the education system, elderly teachers will receive the National Teacher Award. It will include a specially designed chest badge and a cash award of 10000 GEL.

The Minister further stated that the award will encourage the other teachers also to work hard to achieve the award in the coming years.
