Salome Zurabishvili, the President of Georgia rejected the result of the election conducted on October 26, 2024. She also blamed the ruling party Georgian Dram for a large number of violations of the election code of conduct.
The President announced that she decided to reject the election outcome after a long discussion with members of Georgia’s opposition parties. After intensive discussion with representatives of opposition parties, she said she would not recognize official election results.
It is worth noting that she expressed her gratitude to all the voters for casting their votes for a better future for the country. She said citizens have every right to decide to elect the government of their choice. She also thanked the observers, who played a significant role in protecting the votes in such difficult situations.
However, the President mentioned clearly that “the large-scale violations affected the election process. There were many violations that could be detected at the proper time. Moreover, the ruling party misused the power to influence the voter to influence the opinion as well.”
According to her, people have become victims of Russian special operations a total hybrid warfare launched against our people. This was not an impartial election; rather, we may call this a Russian poll due to a high number of violations. It is illegal to use undue force to put pressure on voters.
President said “We are thankful to international players who come forward to expose the violation by the Georgian Dream. Notably, the United States of America also condemned the election results. Moreover, the US secretary of state issued a specific statement and called for investigation about the violation of rules and regulations.”
President urged all citizens to come forward on a single platform to show that we do not accept the election results. On the other hand, Georgian Dream welcomed the election results.
The Prime Minister said people had recognized our welfare policies while rejecting the false narrative and propaganda of opposition parties. She said that this election has made clear that people accept the agenda of the Georgian Dream.
The PM also thanked the voters for showing trust in the ruling regime and said the government would work with full dedication for European Integration.
