Georgia: The EU Delegation in Georgia has launched a grant competition for civil society organisations (CSOs) in Georgia to support their role in promoting good governance, democratic values and human rights in the country.

The grant competition is part of the EU’s thematic programme “Civil Society Organisations in Partner Countries”, which seeks to enhance the capacities and participation of CSOs in policy-making and development processes.

The eligible applicants are CSOs registered in Georgia, networks of CSOs, or non-profit organisations established in EU member states or other countries eligible under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) or the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI).

The applicants are expected to propose actions that contribute to one or more of the following objectives:

Strengthening the voice and participation of CSOs in policy dialogue and local, regional and national decision-making.

Enhancing public authorities’ and institutions’ accountability and transparency and promoting civic oversight and social auditing.

Supporting the implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) and raising awareness of the benefits and opportunities of the EU integration process.

Promoting and protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms and combating discrimination and violence against vulnerable groups.

Fostering social cohesion and inclusion and addressing the needs and challenges of internally displaced persons, conflict-affected populations, and marginalised communities.

The total budget allocated for the grant competition is €3.5 million, and the minimum and maximum grant amounts are €300,000 and €700,000, respectively. The duration of the actions should be between 24 and 36 months.

The deadline for submitting the concept notes is 27 February 2024 at 15:00 Tbilisi time (noon Brussels time). The pre-selected applicants will be invited to submit complete applications by 30 June 2024.

The detailed guidelines and application forms are available on the EU Delegation’s and EEAS websites. The EU Delegation will also organise an online information session for interested applicants on 10 February 2024 at 11:00 Tbilisi (08:00 Brussels time).

The link to join the session will be published on the EU Delegation’s website and social media platforms.
