European Youth Event- Creating new opportunities for youth

Europe: The European Youth Event (EYE) is the European Parliament’s initiative that aims to engage youngsters living across Europe in the activities, decisions and policy making for the future of the European Union. As the European Youth Event, 2023 (EYE2023) is all set to be held on June 09-10 in Strasbourg, the preparations have already begun for the event to be successful.

The inaugural edition of the European Youth Event was held on May 9, 2014. Interestingly, the opening edition of the EYE was organized in only 8-9 months by a team which consisted of just six members. Five years ago, the EYE unit turned into the Youth Outreach Unit as the mission expanded to create further engagement opportunities for young people living across the member nations of the European Union.

As per the European Parliament, One of the first key ideas was to create a website with the main focus on offering participation and engagement possibilities for young people, which consequently led to the establishment of youth-hub.eu.

It was actually the enthusiasm, energy and positive vibes of the participants in the opening edition of the European Youth Event 2014 (EYE2014) that boosted the European Parliament to organize the event in all these years since 2014 and provide more opportunities for youth to develop as it ultimately implies the development of the European Union as a whole.

Within the framework of this Event, the participants indulge in activities that the institutions, international organizations, and youth organizations have formulated and discuss and network over the agendas.

The individuals aged 16-30 are provided with a platform to publicize their thoughts and opinions with the experts, activists, influencers and the concerned policymakers.

The scope of the European Youth Event spans ahead of its time as the future of Europe and the European Union ultimately lies in the hands of the youth. Therefore, it is a visionary step for their upliftment, providing them with the know-how of how things work in a political setup and what goes behind framing a policy and implementation of decisions.

Recently, an online contest named being#youngintheEU was launched, which included the contestants to make vertically captured reels, highlighting the life of youngsters in the European Union. The winners of the contest stand a chance to win a trip to Strasbourg and participate in EYE2023.
