Tbilisi: The employees of the state security service of Georgia have arrested four Georgian citizens. They have been arrested for the illegal possession of firearms and link with terrorist groups, especially Islamic State.
The state security service posted the information on its social media pages and shared information regarding this significant development. According to the information available on the service’s official Facebook page, “due to the joint search and investigation operation, the law enforcer has busted the gang of four-persons having link with the terrorist organization and for the possession of illegal weapons as well.”
The search operation was conducted at two different places at the same time in Batumi. The operation was carried out after receiving information from the person from reliable information. After receiving a tip-off, the terrorist cell of the state security service took immediate action. During the personal search and search of the premises, a huge quantity of illegal firearms were recovered from the accused person.
The recovered ammunition also includes automatic firearms, handguns, and flags of terrorist groups like Islamic State and others. The law enforcers also recovered the the AK-47 rifle and live cartridges from their possession as well. The law enforcement employees posted a video on their Facebook page. In that video, the recovered weapons are clearly visible.
On the other han the agency representative also held a press conference to explain to the media how the entire operation was executed with the collaboration of all the other law enforcement agencies of the country. The official said that law enforcement agencies are very much concerned about tackling any internal and external threat to the security of the country. It is to be added that ISIS is a very dangerous group and is responsible for major terrorist attacks on many parts of the globe.
Meanwhile social media users also appreciated the quick action taken by law enforcement to prevent any untoward incident in the country. The Facebook users, namely Lasha Shukakidze and Dato Dato, commented, “Thank you for efficiency” and “Bravo!!! Wish you success,” respectively.
