It is worth noting that the Economic Cooperation and Development Budapest Regional Center for Competition (
OECD-GVH RCC) organized the conference, and the GCCA Chairman accepted their request to participate.
The Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency (GCCA) shared the snippets of the conference on its official Facebook page on the same day. The agency also shared the details of the event along with the photographs.
According to the details, it should be noted at the conference the first persons from competition agencies from different countries discussed in the format of an expanded dialogue about the measures to be held to effectively implement competition policies.
Irakli Lekvinadze paid attention to his speech – on the activities carried out in the direction of competition politics in Georgia. “Economy, international trade, and investments are steadily growing in Georgia. The goal of our organization is to ensure fair competition. ” – said Irakli Lekvinadze.
During his speech, the chairman of the GCCA reviewed the results achieved in the field of observations, monitoring, and concentration control in detail and noted that legislation in Georgia has improved since 2020. “The legislative changes allowed us to make significant decisions against agreed-upon actions, monitor the pharmaceutical market, and make recommendations that led to increased access to medicines,” he noted.
Irakli Lekvinadze mentioned, ” We actively control companies’ expansions (concentrations), in 2020-2024, 37 concentrations were carried out in Georgia, among which there were 18 unannounced.”
It should also be noted that, the
GCCA Chairman expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the organizers of the conference for their support and cooperation. While espressing gratitude, he stated that the highest concentration of business mergers occurred in the FMCG, construction materials production and mining, education, fuel, and beverage production sectors.
