An evening dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the birth of Vazha-Pshavela was held at the Writers’ House. The Minister of Culture, Tinatin Rukhadze, attended the event. The director of the Writers’ House, Ketevan Dumbadze, opened the evening.
The Ministry of Culture of Georgia shared glimpses of the event on its official Facebook on July 15, 2026, Wednesday. The Georgian Culture Ministry also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.
“Vazha-Pshavela is still one of the most modern Georgian writers today. He was able to convey our spirituality and identity through his work. The celebration of the anniversary of Vazha-Pshavela started with the initiative of the Writers’ House and, I am sure, will continue with several important cultural events. I would like to point out here that large-scale rehabilitation works are underway in Chargali, within which the infrastructure will be organized, and the museum will be renovated, – said Tinatin Rukhadze.
On the evening held at the Writers’ House, Eter Tataraidze and Amiran Arabuli led, who talked about the life and work of Vazha-Pshavela, as well as the book-album created by themselves – “I knew, God, the universe – on the footsteps of Vazha Pshavela”. The publication unites unknown memories about Vazha-Pshavela and Gulkan Razikashvili’s story about his father.
Within the event, the book “Meeting”, published by the Writers’ House and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, was presented, authored by Giorgi Alibegashvili, Yasuhiro Kojima and Mamuka Chanturaia. Vazha-Pshavela’s “Aluda Ketelauri” and Ryunosuke Akutagawa’s “Sanemon’s Crime” are compared and analyzed in the bilingual edition.
The evening featured works created by artist Temur Kubaneishvili on the theme of Vazha-Pshavela.
