Tbilisi: The culture minister of Georgia today hosted a presentation of the anniversary book-album of Giorgi (Giga) Batiashvili. The event was held to commemorate the 90 birth anniversary of the Giorgi Batiashvili for book namely “Giga Batiashvili – Future Projects and Vision”.
The Ministry of culture of Georgia took to their social media handles and shared the information in this regard. As per the official Facebook post of the Ministry, To celebrate the anniversary (90 years since his birth) of Giorgi (Giga) Batiashvili, the Honoured Architect and Public Figure of Georgia, Honorary Citizen of Tbilisi Full and Honorary Member of International Academies, the presentation of the bilingual anniversary book-album “Giga Batiashvili – Future Projects and Vision” held today.
It further stated that the book has been published by the Georgian Union of Architects with the authorship of the organization “Ai Studio” and the support of the Ministry of Culture was held in the assembly hall of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
The event was attended by the Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze, Deputy Minister Beka Davituliani, Rector of the Tbilisi Apollon Kutateladze State Academy of Arts Karaman Kutateladze, Chairman of the Union of Architects of Georgia Davit Abuladze, teachers of the Academy of Arts, students and colleagues of the architect.
It is worth to note that the historic album introduces reader to the interesting and almost unknown, as the author himself called it, “architectural essays” (future projects and visions) of Giga Batiashvili’s work, which are in the possession of the family, a unique cultural heritage, which is the fruit of his relationship with his native Tbilisi.
“Architectural essays” are architectural sketches and design ideas enriched with a vision of the future development of specific districts and various territories of the city, accompanied by the author’s own particularly important explanations, descriptions, and points of view.
The publication of the book-album is, on the one hand, important in terms of introducing the unknown part of the author’s work to the public, and on the other hand, for the preservation of the city’s architectural style and the formation and development of its future appearance.
