Tbilisi: The Ministry of the economy and sustainable development of Georgia will be engaged in an evaluation of Expression of interest in building the Anaklia submarine shipyard and determining the best out of the prospective investors. The decision was made by the Inter-departmental Commission, which met at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.Â
The heads of government agencies participated in the meeting of the Commission, which was chaired by the Vice Prime Minister of Georgia and the Minister of the economy and sustainable development, Levan Davitashvili.
According to the Commission’s decision, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, with the involvement of international consultants, will scrutinize the expression of interests and filtrate the best investor of the project.
At the same time, the state will renew existing engineering/environmental studies and begin certain construction work for the port.
Further, as a result of expressions of interest, a joint company will be formed with the selected investor, where it is planned that the state will be 51 per cent owner and the private partner – 49 per cent.
The working group and the Commission will evaluate the submitted applications with the help of international consultants in a period of one to two months (depending on the number of applications).Â
The criteria for the evaluation of applications will be based on the technical, investment, financial, human resources management and operational requirements of the Anaklia submarine shipyard project.
Qualified candidates following the assessment shall be submitted no later than 17 July 2023 and given a deadline set by the Commission to submit the proposals. The orientation deadline to choose the winner is approximately 12 months.
