Georgia: The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia David Songhulashvili spoke about the progress and plans achieved by the Ministry within the framework of “Conference of Ambassadors 2024.“
Over the past 12 years, the Georgian government has taken results-driven measures to support agricultural development, according to the minister. Over the next four years, the government hopes to expand Georgia’s influence on the international stage and global markets in collaboration with foreign partners.
In order to achieve the goal, it is necessary to continue reforms, utilize the country’s resources and potential to the fullest, and the ministry team continues to work actively in this direction.
“A number of state programs were implemented for the development of the agricultural field, which significantly increased the production of quality Georgian products.” In 2025-2028, the government’s support for the field will increase even more. It is determined to allocate financial resources up to 3 billion GEL”, – stated David Songulashvili.
The country’s ecological sustainability, sustainable development, and the preservation of natural resources were among the topics covered by the Environment and Agriculture Minister during the panel discussion.
In addition, David Songulashvili discussed marketing initiatives to raise awareness of Georgian wine and other agro-food products as well as market diversification programs. He mentioned that the Ministry anticipates that wine exports will reach $500 million by 2028 as a result of these initiatives.
Songulashvili continued, “The economic policy of the Georgian government is based on the permanent recovery of economic freedom and macroeconomic stability and is directed towards the creation of a strong, sustainable and inclusive economy.”
“The goal of the government’s policy is to increase the welfare of the population and ensure the long-term economic stability of the country, which will be based on sustainable development of the country and the strengthening of economic growth,” stated David Songulashvili.
