According to The deputy minister of defence of Georgia, Grigol Giorgadze. The right to deferment will now be available to those persons who are also students of the higher educational courses of the higher educational institutes of Georgia with an active status. He was speking during the meeting of Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration Committee.
The new law will also be drafted and they will enjoy this right at every level of education until he passes the examination of graduation. Moreover, this right of postponement will be enjoyed by those active students also who are studying in a higher educational program of a higher academic institution in any foreign country but not in Georgia, this was not fully implemented in the form of distance learning till now.
New provisions of the draft law allow A person who cannot take advantage of the right to postpone the conscription into the national military service due to full distance learning opportunity. Now the law will provide them with a unique and exceptional opportunity to pass the national military service in an acceptable form.
Additionally, as per the draft law, a person has the right to appeal the decision on conscripts to the national military service authority of Georgia. He can also appeal against any other decision made against a person on the basis of the “Defence Code” related to the national military service of conscripts.
This appeal Must be filed within 15 calendar days after it was officially announced to him. Appealing the said decision does not stop its operation till further order from the higher authorities.
Grigol Giorgadze Speaking specifically on the draft bill proposal, it said, “The newly mentioned change as per the draft law will ensure the timely execution as well as the implementation of the decisions related to defence and security matters“.
It is specifically mentioned that the Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration Committee of the Republic of Georgia has supported the new amendment introduced in the draft bill related to the defence code of the country.
Commitee members also expressed hopes that these amendments will bring a dramatic change in the defence sector of the country.
Moreover, committee members also stated that this will further encourage the youth of the country to join the armed forces as well as fulfil their higher study dreams.
