Georgia: Together with the Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili and the Chairman of the City Council, Giorgi Tkemaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, attended the funeral of the victims of the June 13 disaster on Chabua Amirejibi Highway and laid a wreath at the memorial.
Kakha Kaladze expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and said that June 13, 2015, was the hardest morning for the capital.
“Seven years have passed since the June 13 tragedy. The night that was the hardest for our city and even harder was the morning that dawned. We actually saw what the situation was like – lots of dead people, dilapidated houses, flooded streets and the zoo area, dead animals. It was a very difficult situation. Even now, I find it hard to put into words and talk about what was happening in the capital that morning; however, a large group of young people appeared. I do not remember such solidarity and unanimity which led to the greatest result. Groups of people in love with the city came and got involved in cleaning and tidying up the city to fix the infrastructure. I would like to once again express my condolences to the families of the deceased. Let the souls of all the dead be in the light. “21 people were killed, and two are missing,” said Kakha Kaladze.
Deputy Mayor Andria Basilaia, Vake District Governor Davit Kvinikadze and Tbilisi Sakrebulo deputies were present on the spot, together with the mayor of the capital.
