Georgia: On Saturday, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi said that the questionnaires for European Union membership will be handed over to Georgia and Moldova on Monday, April 11.
According to Varhelyi, the questionnaire, which is about to be handed over to Georgia and Moldova on Monday, had previously been given to Ukraine by Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, on Friday.
The questionnaires, according to the EU Commissioner, will help the European Commission in preparing opinions on EU applications of the applicant countries.
Moreover, the executive branch of the European Union, the European Commission, has been invited by the European Council to submit its opinions on the Republic of Moldova’s and Georgia’s EU membership applications.
On March 3, Georgia officially applied for European Union membership, with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili signing the membership application for the country.
Oliver Varhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, tweeted regarding Georgia’s EU entrance application.
“President Ursula von der Leyen handed over the questionnaire to Ukraine yesterday, and I’ll hand the questionnaire over to Georgia & Moldova on Monday. The answers will help the EU Commission to prepare opinions on EU applications of the three countries, as asked by EUCO,” – Varhelyi wrote.

According to the MFA’s spokesperson, Georgia is preparing for the EU accession follow-up procedures. The EU Integration Commission, led by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, is responsible for ensuring effective coordination among key authorities to complete the questionnaire as soon as possible.
“We’re certain that Georgia will successfully handle the procedure. Georgia’s efforts in enforcing the reforms give strong ground. Georgia, together with the associated nations, getting the membership questionnaire so imminently confirms our European allies’ support for the integration process and recognition of the successful reforms,” told the spokesperson. Georgia’s 2022 National Action Plan for EU Membership was approved by the EU Integration Commission on April 1. On March 3, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili signed Georgia’s EU membership application.
