Georgia: Deputy Agriculture Minister Solomon Pavliashvili participates in cleaning action

Tbilisi: The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Solomon Pavliashvili and Chairman of the NGO "Georgia Green Movement / Friends of the Earth - Georgia", Nino Chkhobadze, together with an employee of Tbilisi Sea, Ltd. "Tbilservice Group" took part in a cleaning action.

Tbilisi: The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Solomon Pavliashvili and Chairman of the NGO “Georgia Green Movement / Friends of the Earth – Georgia”, Nino Chkhobadze, together with an employee of Tbilisi Sea, Ltd. “Tbilservice Group” took part in a cleaning action.

“Since 1993, March 22, International Water Protection Day has been celebrated. Georgia is joining the world campaign – 30 municipalities are conducting a weekly cleaning week to protect water resources from pollution. I would like to point out here that, as the process of deforestation is taking place in the world, it is increasingly important to use water resources effectively and raise public awareness in this regard,” said Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili.

“The greatest wealth in the 21st century is water, and the most important thing we should consider is water.” This is the biggest achievement for us Georgia. Today is dedicated precisely to protecting our rivers, lakes and sea from waste,” said Nino Chkhobadze, chairman of the NGO “Georgia Green Movement / Friends of the Earth – Georgia”.

According to the decision of the General Assembly of the United Nations, March 22 is celebrated as the International Day of Water Resources Protection. The purpose of establishing and celebrating this day is to remind the world community once again the importance of conserving and protecting water resources. The UN has developed an action plan that by 2030, everyone in the world should have access to clean water!

Notable, the motto of this year’s global campaign: “Promote change to solve the water and sanitation crisis”, highlighting the importance of taking decisive action to address the global water crisis.
